Roche Mining

Roche Mining's contract with Iluka Resources (Iluka), valued at $200 million, was to design and project manage the build of the mineral sands processing facilities and associated infrastructure at the Douglas mineral sands project in western Victoria, the first large-scale mineral sands development in the Murray Basin region.

The contract award follows earlier work undertaken by Roche Mining for Iluka in providing engineering studies to define the requirements for the Douglas mineral sands project development, and the provision of advanced site works.

Project Scope:

Roche mining contacted Lectel to assist in providing design services for an 11kv feeder to power the new facilities. Part of the project brief was that the feeder should be designed to Powercor Standards. 

Our response:

From our previous design works with powercor Lectel design staff  downloaded the latest design standard from the Powercor website under our accredited login. 

Design was assessed and a renegotiation of the brief carried out to provide the optimun solution. 

Outcomes:

Design was completed on time and under budget.  Through Lectel's input our client received valuable feedback on project outcomes before a design was completed.  This resulted in exceeding our clients expectations
